Human Rights Commission

One of the best internships of my life was when I spent this past summer working for the Westchester County Human Rights Commission. There I saw my local government combat all forms of discrimination and hatred. From issues with fair housing, employment, public accommodations, credit lending and harassment, this department received, investigated and adjudicated complaints made by everyday citizens across the county to ensure the law was applied fairly and with full transparency.

Ninja Tech Club

During the pandemic, I saw how much isolation impacted everyone and how vital technology became as a way of connecting with the world. By reaching out to the India Center of Westchester, I found that many seniors in my area wanted to use technology, but needed help. They provided me with the contact information of people in my area I could help and the Ninja Tech Club was born. Through my club, seniors can contact me with their technology goals, whether it be learning how to get their groceries and pharmaceuticals online, to hosting family nights on WhatsApp. I scheduled appointments and came to their homes for private tutorials. It was incredibly gratifying to see people who had felt alone start to gain connection with the world around them and independence as their confidence grew.
